Port Sudan Airport 2024.. Sudan window to the world

Port Sudan Airport is an international airport located in the city of Port Sudan in the Red Sea State of eastern Sudan. It is considered the second largest airport in the country after Khartoum Airport and currently serves as the main airport for Sudan due to the closure of Khartoum Airport amid the ongoing events in Sudan and the city of Khartoum.

The Airport was officially opened in 1992, replacing the old military airport. It is equipped with all modern navigational and ground facilities. The Civil Aviation Authority in the country operates the airport, which also accommodates various models of civilian and military aircrafts.

Port Sudan Airport is located south of the city about 26 kilometers, with a journey to the airport from the city center taking approximately 30 minutes by car.

Port Sudan Airport is operating normally for commercial flights and global cargo flights, and currently, four Airlines are working there:

Sudanese Airlines (Sudan Air)

Tarco Aviation

Badr Airlines

Egypt Air

Turkish Airlines.. On the way

The management of the Airport has confirmed its readiness to receive Turkish Airlines flights whenever they set a date to resume their operations to Sudan.

The Turkish ambassador to Sudan, “Fatih Yıldız,” had visited the airport to assess its capabilities in preparation for making a decision regarding the resumption of Turkish flights.

The operation rate of Port Sudan Airport has risen to over 500 flights per month, excluding unscheduled flights, as thousands of flights have been conducted since the transfer of air traffic from Khartoum to Port Sudan following the closure of Khartoum Airport in April 2023.
